I hope you all are enjoying the start of this wonderful upcoming summer! I recently graduated with my amazing classmates of 24’, from my loving homeschool group, with whom I have been blessed to share tons of memories. I know I will miss all of them. That being said, I had so many mixed emotions while contemplating and praying about my future after graduation. About 3 months ago, I considered the possibility of pursuing the cosmetology field, but as Proverbs 23:6 says “We can make our plans but the LORD determines our steps.”
Not gonna lie, not knowing what my for sure plans were after high school, stressed me out. I would say that my academic skills aren’t one of the greatest blessings God has granted to me (lol). Hence, leaving my home to continue academics wasn’t appealing. I began to search for other opportunities, with the thought of deepening my relationship with God, knowing He would be the one to help me decide my future plans. This was when I came across World Race’s gap year program through Adventures and Missions. Looking into it, I became excited with the possibility of serving others around the world. I know that God has blessed me with a sense of adventure that made this sound appealing, so I decided to set up an interview and see what God would do. And here we are with me trying to wrap my head around the fact that I will be leaving my small world for 9 months..and not even coming home for Christmas.
As a small child, I have always wanted to visit Germany, maybe God was using this desire in me to someday fulfill missions abroad. Through World Race, I’ll be serving in Eastern Europe, which is at least the same country as Germany. I will also be serving in Asia and Central America. My excitement for the chance to share our Father’s love with others overseas is overflowing. I also anticipate learning what it means to live as the hands and feet of Christ and creating lifelong connections in a Christ-centered community. I have yet to meet the people I will be spending the 9 months with in person, but they have already had a tremendous impact on my spiritual life. This trip will greatly impact me and the rest of my life. Lord willing, it will help me discover my calling and along the way, will teach me how to serve the world and meet the needs of others.
Romans 15:13 “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
